On their second day off of the 2019-20 season, the Washington Capitals spoiled it for some players as they cut nine from their roster, though there were few surprises.

The following players have been sent to Hershey: defensemen Kristofers Bindulis, Tobias Geisser, Connor Hobbs, and Bobby Nardella; forwards Axel Jonsson-Fjallby, Brett Leason, Philippe Mailet, Garrett Pilon, and Joe Snively. The Bears open camp this week.

The roster is now down to 35 players (19 forwards, 12 defensemen, and four goaltenders).

The deadline to submit the 23-man opening night roster will be at 5 PM ET on Tuesday, October 1, one day before the team opens the season at the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues.

The new practice groupings are as follows:

Defenseman Alexander Alexeyev remains on the camp roster, but was not assigned to a practice group.

The Capitals will make more roster cuts between now and then.

The updated roster can be found here.
