While MedStar Capitals IcePlex is all business by day during training camp, with the 2019-20 season right around the corner, it was abuzz with high spirits Friday evening, as the Capitals and Monumental Sports Network hosted fans for “Beers + Bites”.
From 6:30-8:30 P.M., VIP subscribers to Monumental Sports Network aged 21 and over and one guest were hosted at MedStar to try a variety of lagers, ales, and other drinks, along with complimentary food (bites).
Capitals Garnet Hathaway and Nick Jensen were on hand for the event, and spent time serving drinks as bartenders while signing autographs and taking photos with fans.
Jensen and Hathaway also spent time taking “shots” at fans standing in net as a goalie, creating a fun and enjoyable atmosphere for all attendees.
One of the ales served at the event was Devil’s Backbone “Capit-ale” Indian Pale ale, which was created as a collaboration between the team and the brewing company, and will only be served at Capital One Arena and is available for purchase through the 2019-20 and on draft at certain retail locations in the DMV, per the Capitals’ official press release.
Michael Fleetwood was born into a family of diehard Capitals fans and has been watching games as long as he can remember. He was born the year the Capitals went to their first Stanley Cup Final, and is a diehard Caps fan, the owner of the very FIRST Joe Beninati jersey and since then, has met Joe himself.
Michael joined the NoVa Caps team in 2015, and is most proud of the growth of the NoVa Caps community in that time. An avid photographer, Michael resides in VA.
