Fans across the DMV have been scooping up as many boxes of Ovi O’s as they can since the official launch on September 17. On Wednesday, the Washington Capitals announced “Ovi O’s Slapshot”, which is an interactive, augmented reality game, using only the collector’s edition cereal box and Snapchat.
For fans living outside the D.C. region, you can download the cover artwork to display on your computer screen or print out to play the game. Once you have purchased Ovi O’s, scan the Snapcode that will unlock the lens filter.

The lens will stay unlocked for 48 hours, but you can scan the code as many times as you want to unlock the experience.
To start playing Slapshot, point your phone at the box of Ovi O’s and hold your phone a foot away from the box. The augmented reality technology transforms the box into an arena, where you play as Ovechkin at the net preparing for the shot. Depending on where the target is, you can shoot high or low in the net.
Touch and drag your finger back to set up the shot before swiping your finger forward to launch the Ovi O’s at the targets. Throughout the game, the Capitals captain will encourage you such as “Sick Shot!”, “Nice Try!”, and “Play Again!”
Feel confident with your slapshot skills? Use the hashtag #OviOs and tag Giant Food on Twitter with videos or screenshots of you playing “Ovi O’s Slapshot” to see who has the best score!
