Capitals’ Calendar Leading Up To Opening Night

August is coming to a close, which means that the upcoming season for the NHL and the Washington Capitals is rapidly approaching. Here is a list of the events that will take place between now and October 2, when the Capitals visit the defending Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues to open up the 2019-20 regular season. We will continuously update as required. You can easily access this post at any time via the “Practice Schedule” button on the right side of the page.

Thursday, September 5 – Prospects travel day.

Friday, September 6 –  Capitals prospects practice: 11 a.m., Ford Ice Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

NHL players’ informal skate from 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m., MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Saturday, September 7 – Rookie Game:  Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes, 1 p.m., Ford Ice Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

NHL players’ informal skate from 8:10 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Sunday, September 8 – Rookie Game:  Capitals vs. Nashville Predators, 1 p.m., Ford Ice Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

Monday, September 9 – Capitals prospects practice: 11 a.m., Ford Ice Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

NHL players’ informal skate from 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (Group 1). MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

NHL players’ informal skate from 11:25 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. (Group 2). MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Tuesday, September 10 – Rookie Game:  Capitals vs. Tampa Bay Lightning, 10 a.m., Ford Ice Center, Nashville, Tennessee.

NHL players’ informal skate from 9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. (Group 1). MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

NHL players’ informal skate from 11:25 a.m. – 12:55 p.m. (Group 2). MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Wednesday, September 11 – NHL players’ informal skate from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Thursday, September 12 – Capitals Media Day/Off-Ice Testing. MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Friday, September 13 – Capitals Training Camp Begins. MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Monday, September 16 – First Capitals Preseason Game vs. Chicago Blackhawks at 7 PM ET

Wednesday, September 18 – Preseason Game – St. Louis Blues At Washington Capitals At 7 PM ET.

Saturday, September 21 – Preseason Game – Carolina Hurricanes At Washington Capitals At 7 PM ET.

Wednesday, September 25 – Preseason Game – Washington Capitals At Chicago Blackhawks At 8 PM ET.

Friday, September 27 – Preseason Game – Washington Capitals At St. Louis Blues At 8 PM ET.

Sunday, September 29 – Preseason Game – Washington Capitals at Carolina Hurricanes at 1:30 PM ET.

Tuesday, October 1 – Capitals Media Luncheon.

Deadline To Submit Opening Night Roster at 5 PM ET

Wednesday, October 2 – Opening Night Of 2019-20 NHL Season.
