It’s become a soothing Wednesday night summertime tradition for those in need of a hockey fix in Minnesota, and a way for players to stay in game shape during the dog days of summer in July and August. “Da Beauty League” was created in 2015 to bring professional hockey to Minnesota on a year-round basis (in addition to hockey season) for three games over July and August. In the latest game, two Capitals managed to get their names on the scoresheet for their team, the Tradition.
Shane Gersich, who spent last season with the Capitals’ American Hockey League affiliate Hershey Bears, made a dent in the scoresheet just 1:30 into the Jack Links’ 5-2 lead, taking a pass from Washington teammate Nick Jensen to put the puck past Jack Links’ netminder Alex Stalock. The goal is Gersich’s first in four games played.

Jensen, however, would get a tally of his own, taking a pass from Kyle Rau just 1:10 after Gersich’ goal to bring the Tradition within one of the Jack Links’ lead. The goal was Jensen’s third of the 2019 season and third in fourth games.

After some back-and-forth play, Jensen would once again strike, this time late in the third period at the 21:23 mark. The goal came on a penalty shot and tied the game at 6-6, sending the game into overtime. The goal was Jensen’s fourth in four games played and his two tallies and assist bring his point total to seven.

The Tradition would fall just 30 seconds into the extra frame, losing 7-6 on a goal from Pittsburgh Penguins star Jake Guentzel.
