The Washington Capitals released their preseason schedule for the 2019-20 season on Monday. The date of their home-opener will be announced on Friday. The full NHL regular season schedule will come out on a week from Monday. The Capitals will face the Carolina Hurricanes, who beat the Capitals in seven games in the first round of the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs, twice during the preseason including at home on Saturday, September 21 at 7 PM. They will also face the Hurricanes at PNC Arena in Raleigh to close out the exhibition season on Sunday, September 29 at 1:30 PM.
They will also take on the Chicago Blackhawks and defending Stanley Cup champion St. Louis Blues twice each. The Blackhawks and the Blues will come to town on Monday, September 16 and Wednesday, September 18, respectively.
The Capitals will also play road games in Chicago and St. Louis on Wednesday, September 25 and Friday, September 27, respectively.
The Capitals will open the preseason with a three-game homestand and end it on a three-game road trip.

The Washington Capitals have released their 2019-20 preseason schedule, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today. The schedule will feature six games against three opponents and will include three games at Capital One Arena.
The Capitals will open their preseason schedule against the Chicago Blackhawks on Sept. 16 at Capital One Arena, which will start a three game preseason homestand through Sept. 21. Washington will then face Chicago at United Center on Sept. 25, followed by a visit to the St. Louis Blues on Sept. 27. The Capitals will then travel to face the Carolina Hurricanes on Sept. 29 to conclude their preseason.
The Capitals were 2-3-2 in the preseason in 2018-19 and their all-time preseason record is 165-127-33-16.
The full preseason broadcast schedule and the complete 2019-20 NHL regular season schedule will be released at a later date.
