Capitals Announce Fan Activities During Development Camp

The Washington Capitals announced on Thursday that their annual development camp for prospects will take place from June 25-29 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. The entirety of camp will be open to the public.

A scrimmage will take place on the final day of camp beginning at 10 AM. MedStar Capitals Iceplex will hold an equipment sale on the first day of camp from 8:15 PM to 9:30.

Development Camp

Capitals Development Camp will run from June 25-29 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. The entire camp is open to the public (complete on-ice schedule and roster will be announced at a later date) with a scrimmage set for Saturday, June 29, at 10 a.m. In addition, activities for children will be set up throughout MedStar Capitals Iceplex on June 29.

All on-ice sessions are free and open to the public.

The team’s public equipment sale will take place on Tuesday, June 25, from 8:15-9:30 p.m. at MedStar Capitals Iceplex.

Capitals Alumni Bourbon & Cigar Event

The Capitals Alumni Bourbon & Cigar Event will be held Monday, June 24, from 7-10 p.m. at Top of the Town in Arlington, Va.

Alumni scheduled to appear include: Peter Bondra, Bob Carpenter, Sylvain Cote, John Druce, Matt Herr, Brent Johnson, Dmitri Khristich, Olie Kolzig, Yvon Labre, Gord Lane, Rod Langway, Craig Laughlin, Dennis Maruk, Alan May, Kelly Miller, Paul Mulvey, Andrei Nikolishin, Dave Parro, Errol Rausse, Ken Sabourin, and Bernie Wolfe.

The cocktail event will feature bourbon and whiskey tastings, courtesy of Filibuster Distillery, unique beer selections including Goose Island Bourbon County Stout, courtesy of Anheuser Busch, along with a variety of wine selections courtesy of Trinchero Wines and vodka selections courtesy of New Amsterdam vodka, the official vodka of the NHL. Premium hors d’oeuvres will be served as guests mingle with former Capitals players while taking in the 360-degree view of Washington D.C., on Top of the Town’s premier rooftop.

All guests will receive a custom leather coaster set in addition to a complimentary cigar, courtesy of Signature Cigars. A selection of additional cigars will be available to sample and purchase throughout the evening.

This year’s event will include a live auction featuring experience packages with Capitals alumni. Proceeds from the auction will be used to provide a scholarship opportunity to a select student-athlete from each of the five high school hockey leagues in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area on behalf of the WCAA.

Alumni Summer Classic Game

The Washington Capitals Alumni Association will host an Alumni Summer Classic Game on Tuesday, June 25, at 7 p.m. at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. The event is free and open to the general public.

Alumni scheduled to participate include: Peter Bondra, Bob Carpenter, Sylvain Cote, John Druce, Bryan Helmer, Matt Herr, Brent Johnson, Dmitri Khristich, Olie Kolzig, Dennis Maruk, Alan May, Kelly Miller, Paul Mulvey, Andrei Nikolishin, Dave Parro, Errol Rausse, and Ken Sabourin.

Teams will be coached by Capitals Retired Numbers Yvon Labre and Rod Langway.

Fans have the opportunity to bid for a roster spot on Team Labre or Team Langway and participate alongside their favorite alumni.
