The St. Louis Blues fell to the Boston Bruins in Game 3 of the 2019 Stanley Cup Final at Enterprise Center by a score of 5-2 on Saturday night and now trail the 2-1 in the series. The game was the first in the Stanley Cup Final in St. Louis since 1970. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington pitched 14 saves in the loss while goaltender Tuukka Rask made 25 saves in net for the Bruins. Backup goaltender Jake Allen also recorded three saves in the blowout loss for St. Louis after stepping in during the second period.

First Period

Bruins defenseman Torey Krug’s point shot was steered in by center Patrice Bergeron and went past the glove of Binnington off of a faceoff 10:47 into the period on the power-play to give Boston a 1-0 lead.

Forward Charlie Coyle extended the lead going high glove on Binnington after getting a cross-ice feed from forward Marcus Johansson with 2:20 left in the first.

Forward Sean Kuraly zipped a shot through the five-hole of Binnington from out high to make it 3-0 Boston with 9.2 seconds left. The Blues challenged for offside but it backfired.

The Bruins led 12-8 in shots, 16-14 in hits, and 4-2 in blocked shots after one. They won  60% of the draws, went 1-for-2 on the man advantage, and had no giveaways while the Blues had four in the first.

The Blues led 5-3 in takeaways and went 0-for-1 on the power-play after the first.

Second Period

Forward David Pastrnak backhanded a shot to the roof in front after getting the puck from Krug to make it 4-0 on the power-play 41 seconds into the second.

Forward Zach Sanford, who recorded his first Stanley Cup Playoff point on the play, fed center Ivan Barbashev from behind the net and Barbashev went top shelf on Rask right in front of him to cut the lead to three with 7:55 left in the period.

Krug ripped a wrister from the right circle on the power-play to make it 5-1 and end Binnington’s night at 12:12 elapsed time. Binnington made 14 saves prior to yielding the net to backup goaltender Jake Allen.

The Bruins led 20-18 in shots, 11-5 in blocked shots, and had four giveaways while the Blues had five after two. They won 55% of the draws and went 3-for-3 on the power-play in the first 40 minutes.

The Blues led 10-8 in second-period shots, 27-25 in hits, and 9-6 in takeaways after 40. They went 0-for-2 in the power-play in the first two periods.

Third Period

Defenseman Colton Parayko’s shot from up top went through a screen and past Rask 5:24 into the period on the power-play to cut the Bruins’ lead to 5-2.

The Bruins led 11-5 in blocked shots and had four giveaways while the Blues had six. They won 55% of the draws and went 3-for-3 on the power-play.

The Blues led 26-22 in shots, including 8-2 in the third, 30-28 in hits, and 11-9 in takeaways. They went 1-for-5 in the power-play.

Game 4 from Enterprise Center is on Monday night at 8 PM ET. The game can be seen on NBC in the United States and CBC in Canada.
