Defenseman Jonas Seigenthaler took line rushes on the first defensive pairing with defenseman John Carlson.
I don’t know how much Siegenthaler will actually play with Carlson during the game. Pairs will probably rotate a decent amount again.

Goaltender Ilya Samsonov, who was recalled from the AHL’s Hershey Bears on Saturday morning, will serve as the third goalie for the Capitals on Saturday night.

The Hurricanes will once again be without forwards Michael Ferland, who left Game 3 with an upper-body injury; Andrei Svechnikov, who left Game 3 with a concussion; and Jordan Martinook, who left Game 4 with a lower-body injury, in Game 5. Forward Aleksi Saarela will make his NHL debut on Saturday night. Svechnikov said that he is feeling good and hopeful to play in Game 6 at PNC Arena on Monday.
