According to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports, Carolina Hurricanes forward Warren Foegele will not be suspended for his hit on Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie with 5:08 left in Game 4 of the First Round series at PNC Arena in Raleigh. Oshie left the game and could be out “for a while,” per Capitals head coach Todd Reirden.

Foegele, 23, was given a two-minute minor penalty for boarding. He has scored three goals in the past two games of the First Round series for the Hurricanes.
Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin called Foegele’s hit on Oshie “a dirty play” and thought the penalty on Foegele should have been more than two minutes.
Foegele, who has never been suspended or fined in his NHL career, called it “an unfortunate play” but hoped Oshie would be fine. Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour felt that Oshie was not ready for the hit, saying “He crashed into the boards hard, and that’s when the arm went up, because he stayed down.”
Capitals head coach Todd Reirden was furious after Game 4, saying that he felt the league should take a look at the hit on Oshie.
The Capitals, who are already without defenseman Michal Kempny for the rest of the season after he underwent hamstring surgery on April 2, will have a more specific timeline on Oshie’s recovery later on Friday.
The Capitals recalled forward Devante Smith-Pelly from the AHL’s Hershey Bears on Friday with Oshie expected to miss some time.
Game 5 of the best-of-seven series is on Saturday at Capital One Arena (8 PM ET, NBC) with both teams looking for a 3-2 lead in the series.

If this is true then the disciplinary committee is compiled of s bunch of spineless cowards. Brinfimoor gets his way again. Tom Wilson got 20 games for less than this. The NHL has lost the guts to see the obvious. O’hallorin is still allowed to ref? Really? Shame what the NHL has become.
I’m a Caps fan thru and thru but I don’t think it was meant to injure Oshie. I really think it was just unfortunate even though Brindaless is a moron in his comments…Caps will miss Oshie’s 200 foot effort for sure but ‘Next Man Up’. They looked better last night overall too. Hopefully they can find their best form Saturday night. Go Caps!
I know who you are anonymous. An intentional blind boarding hit is not unfortunate. Put Wilson in Foegle’s skates and it would have been a 5 minute major follow by multiple games suspension. This is BS.
