The defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals returned to MedStar Capitals Iceplex on Wednesday morning for their annual team photo shoot. All players and top management staff were on hand for the photo shoot, with the exception of Michal Kempny, who underwent surgery yesterday. You will see in the photos that the Capitals used a stand-in with Kempny’s uniform for the final team photo. NoVa Caps’ photojournalist Joe Noyes was on hand to capture a few images from their practice and team photo at MedStar.

A stand-in for Kempny. I was reminded of when the Flyers had a stand-in for Chris Pronger in his last season since, at that time, Pronger was out for the season with a concussion and was not even doing well enough to show up for the team picture.
