In yet another thrilling victory against the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday night, there were three different line rushes that we could have selected from for the Capitals’ Line Rush of the Game. However, the ultimate selection was one that saw Jakub Vrana score a beauty of a goal and tie the game for the Caps.
In the Caps’ 3-2 win over the ‘Canes, there were a number of great chances and opportunities by the Capitals, but there may have been no more crucial goal than that by breakout star Jakub Vrana. Receiving a breakout pass from defenseman Christian Djoos, center Evgeny Kuznetsov dished a pass to a streaking Vrana, who used his speed to work his way around Carolina forward Micheal Ferland, who put a beautiful deke past Carolina netminder Curtis McElhinney to tie the game at 2-2.

The goal was Vrana’s 23rd of a 2018-19 season that has seen the former first-round pick become one of the Caps’ biggest offensive weapons and now puts him tied for second on the team in goals with T.J. Oshie. The Caps’ victory secured the team a spot in the 2019 Stanley Cup Playoffs and extended their Metropolitan Division lead even further with four games now left in the regular season.
