Alex Ovechkin scored two more goals in the Capitals 6-3 loss to the Lightning in Tampa Saturday night. Each goal was a new milestone for the “Great 8”.
Ovechkin scored a power play goal at 7:33 in the second period. It narrowed the Caps deficit in the game to 3-2.
The power play goal was the 246th power play goal in his career and tied Phil Esposito for fifth place on the All Time List.
He is now just one power play goal away from being tied for fourth place with Luc Robitaille who has 247.

Ovechkin scored a second goal later in the game that was also a new milestone for the Great 8. Ovechkin recorded his 131st career multi-goal game to move into a tie with Teemu Selanne for the eighth-most performances in NHL history.
Ovechkin’s 131st career multi-goal game is 47 more multi-goal games than Sidney Crosby, who has the second most in the NHL since Ovechkin entered the NHL.
Ovechkin now has 48 goals on the season.
The Capitals will be off on Sunday and will practice on Monday at 10:30 at MedStar Capitals Iceplex before traveling to New Jersey. The Capitals next visit the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday before returning home to host the same Tampa Bay Lightning Wednesday night at Capital One Arena.
