The Washington Capitals donated a Stanley Cup Ring to the 2018 Hockey Hall of Fame and got a tour of the Hockey Hall of Fame Resource Center after practicing at Mastercard Center in Toronto on Wednesday afternoon. Captain Alex Ovechkin, alternate captains Nicklas Backstrom and Brooks Orpik, goaltender Braden Holtby, forward Tom Wilson, and head coach Todd Reirden represented the team at the event.

First, Keeper of the Cup Phil Pritchard gave the team a tour of the Resource Center.

The Capitals then went to see how hockey sticks have progressed since 1875.

Goaltender Braden Holtby also took a look at an old goalie mask.

Pritchard showed the Capitals a Canadian Olympic jersey from 1932.

Below is the ring that the Capitals donated to the Hall Of Fame:

It will go in the case below:

After getting a tour of the Hall of Fame, the ceremony began.

Captain Alex Ovechkin was among the speakers at the ceremony.

Forward Tom Wilson showed the hockey fans at the Hall of Fame the ring that the team gave to the facility.

Ovechkin and his teammates looked at the set of rings after they put the one from the Capitals:

When a Pittsburgh Penguins fan requested to take a photo with the Capitals’ players, defenseman Brooks Orpik told him to take off his Pens hat but Ovechkin was more than happy to do the honors himself.

Unfortunately for the Caps, their ring is beside the one given by the 2017 Stanley Cup Champion Penguins.
