Washington Capitals forward prospect Eric Florchuk was the star of the show in Saskatoon’s 8-3 victory over the Kootenay Ice. The first star of the game had two goals, one assist on just two shots on goal, and was 11 of 15 on face-offs.

Florchuk’s first tally came in the first period, giving the Blades a 2-0 lead. Florchuk took a pass at center ice from fellow Capitals prospect Kristian Royas-Martinsen and went the distance, beating the Kootenay goaltender blocker-side, after presenting a nice fake to his back hand side.

Florchuk’s second tally came on the end of a nice centering pass from Kyle Crnkovic. The 6′-2″ Florchuk was camped in front of goal and was able to punch it home.

Florchuk now has 20 goals and 23 assists in 57 games played so far this season, including three goals and two assists in his last two games. This was Florchuk’s fifth two-goal game so far this season. Florchuk has fired 143 shots for a shooting percentage of 13.98%.

Eric Florchuk was taken with the very last pick in the 2018 NHL Draft (7th round, #217) by the Washington Capitals.

    Thanks Jon! Super article.
Some guy named “Zetterberg” was poached by the Detroit Red Wings some years back, at about the same Two-Hundred-and-Something selection in the NHL draft. I hope Florchuk makes the Big Club someday
