Goaltender Pheonix Copley will start in net when the Washington Capitals host the Los Angeles Kings tonight, meaning that Braden Holtby will start at the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday, when the team begins a season-long six-game road trip. The Capitals made a lot of line changes prior to their game against the Kings, including swapping forward Dmitrij Jaskin out for forward Chandler Stephenson.
I asked Reirden about Jaskin getting scratched again: “I use him at the end of a penalty kill and then it ends up in the back of our net. Those are situations where we have to find people that can be used in all different areas of the game, especially back-to-backs.”
