After falling to the division rival Columbus Blue Jackets in overtime on Saturday night, the Capitals awoke Sunday morning to a white wonderland with the overnight snowfall that hit the DMV. Like many families, Capitals players, their families, and even their pets, enjoyed time outside, including snow angels, snowball fights, and games of fetch with snowballs!
Right wing T.J. Oshie and wife Lauren enjoyed the snow with their daughters Lyla (left, above) and Leni, as well as their dog Charlie, with Lauren posting a number of videos on her Instagram story of the family enjoying their time in the snow.
The first video shows T.J. making snow angels with both Lyla and Leni, followed by Leni dumping a big handful of snow on dad!
The second video shows Lyla and Leni engaging in perhaps the most adorable snowball fight ever:
The third video shows the Oshie’s dog Charlie having some fun of his own, catching snowballs from T.J.:
John Carlson and his family also had fun in the snow, though it was a special day for eight-month old Rudy Carlson, who enjoyed his first snow day since being born during the Capitals’ 2018 run to the Stanley Cup last spring.
Like Lauren, Carlson’s wife Gina posted a series of videos to her Instagram story and account, including Rudy’s first ride in the snow and big brother Lucca watching the family’s dog Ellie playing outside, before helping dad shovel the family’s walkway!
Alex Ovechkin’s wife Nastya shared a video of Ovechkin and their son Sergei, who also experienced his first snow since coming into the world in August 2018.
Lars Eller even shared a video to his Instagram story of his daughter Sophia making a snow angel of her own:
Andre Burakovsky, meanwhile shared a photo with the caption “Golf in the snow”:And lastly, a video of Alex Ovechkin’s Black Labrador Blaik (pronounced Blake) digging in a snow mound:
