While his Pittsburgh Penguins came out with a 2-1 win over the Capitals on Wednesday night, Penguins captain Sidney Crosby had some words for his opposing captain following the Metropolitan Division clash. Early in the first period, following Tom Wilson’s bout with Jamie Oleksiak, Crosby and Ovechkin traded barbs between the two benches. According to the Penguins’ beloved star, Wilson should have gotten a penalty for instigating the fight and believes Ovechkin interrupted his conversation with the officials.During their exchange, per NBC Sports Network’s Pierre McGuire, Ovechkin and Crosby traded the following:

After the game, despite playing a key role in his team’s victory, Crosby told reporters that he believes Wilson should have been given a minor penalty for instigating, and claimed that Ovechkin began yelling at him during his exchange with an official. Per the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Jason Mackey, Crosby said:

Ovechkin recorded five shots in the 2-1 loss in 25:14 of ice time, seeing an impressive points and goal streak come to an end. Crosby recorded a goal and an assist to help the Pens edge the Caps in their first meeting since November.

Jaime took the gloves off first. Everyone at the game saw that. So do you think Jaime should get instigator, hmmm? Tom even let Jaime down easily on the ice, just to be nice. And then there’s your gm, Rutherford, who egged the whole thing on with his mouth; how unprofessional to get his own player hurt like that. Bet you’ll all shut your traps now. Except for Little Cindy whining all the time to the refs. Stop talking, Cindy! And fight Ovi! Chicken Little/Little Chicken.
