Hershey Bears Blitz Hartford Wolf Pack 6-3: Liam O’Brien and Mike Sgarbossa Score Twice; Max Kammerer and Garrett Pilon Score First AHL Goals

The Hershey Bears beat the Hartford Wolf Pack 6-3 Saturday night at Giant Center. The win improves the Bears record to 11-13-0-1. The Bears are back in action on Sunday when they host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at Giant Center. Puck drop is 5PM.

STARTERS
Ilya Samsonov (3-8-0, 3.91 GAA, .864 sv%) started between the pipes for the Bears. Alexandar Georgiev (2-3-0, 3.24 GAA, .899 sv%) got the start in net for the visiting Wolf Pack. The starting forward lines and defensive pairs for the Bears:

Scratches: Shane Gersich (upper body injury), Lucas Johansen (upper body injury), Kris Bindulis (upper body injury). Grant Besse, recalled from South Carolina today, was officially a scratch.

FIRST PERIOD
The Wolf Pack wasted little time jumping out to,an early lead with a power play goal from Bobby Butler just three minutes into the contest.

The Bears would tie the game with a goal from Mike Sgarbossa at 13:20 of the first period. Nathan Walker (3) and Colby Williams (5) were credited with the helpers.

Beck Malenstyn would receive a match penalty for a check to the head late in the opening frame.

The first period ended in a 1-1 tie. The Bears led 17-12 in shots on goal for the first 20 minutes. The Wolf Pack was 1 for 2 and the Bears 0 for 1 on the power play in the first period.

SECOND PERIOD
The Bears would take their first lead in the game with a goal from Max Kammerer at 3:27 of the middle frame. Colby Williams (6) and Mason Mitchell (1) were credited with the assists. This was Kammerer’s first AHL goal.

The Wolf Pack would tie it up with a power play goal from Vinni Lettieri at 10:31 of the middle frame.

Liam O’Brien would grab the lead back for the Bears with his 10th goal of the season at 17:11 of the middle frame, to make it 3-2. Colby Williams (7) and Connor Hobbs (12) were credited with the helpers on the power play goal.

The period would expire with the Bears leading 3-2. The Wolf Pack outshot the Bears 14-11 for the middle frame. The Wolf Pack were 2 for 3 and the Bears 1 for 1 on the power play after 40 minutes of play.

THIRD PERIOD
The Bears would stretch their lead to 4-2 with a goal from Liam O’Brien, his second of the game. This was O’Brien’s second two-goal game this week. Tyler Lewington (3) and Max Kammerer (5) were credited with the assists.

The Bears would continue to add ot their lead with a goal from Garrett Pilon at 10:13 of the final frame. This was Pilon’s first AHL goal. Tobias Geisser (1) and Tyler Lewington (4) were credited with the assists.

The Bears would make it 6-2 with a goal from Mike Sgarbossa at 12:30 of the final frame. This was Sgarbossa’s second goal of the game. Aaron Ness (9) and Jayson Megna (4) assisted on the power play goal.
