The play can be found below:
Morrissey crunched Oshie into the glass while Oshie had the puck. Oshie, 31, was eligible to be checked on the play. He could have suffered a concussion on the play. Oshie has a history of concussions and missed six games with one last season.
Morrissey has been suspended once previously. He was suspended one game for crosschecking Minnesota Wild forward Eric Staal in Game 4 of the Jets-Wild First Round series last season.
Oshie’s status is unclear for the Capitals’ game against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night at 9 PM in Denver.
Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov also left the game against Winnipeg with an upper-body injury and his status against the Avalanche is also unclear after being the victim of a high hit to the head from forward Brandon Tanev. Goaltender Braden Holtby (upper-body) and defenseman Michal Kempny (illness), Kuznetsov, and Oshie are all labeled as day-to-day.
Oshie is second on the Capitals with nine goals and sixth with 14 points in 18 games this season.

There is more to this than: “Morrissey crunched Oshie into the glass while Oshie had the puck. Oshie, 31, was eligible to be checked on the play.” He held him and smashed him down to the ice where he hit his head – a small detail?
