Evgeny Kuznetsov Leaves Capitals Game vs. Jets With Upper-Body Injury; Will Be Re-Evaluated Thursday

Washington Capitals center Evgeny Kuznetsov left Wednesday’s game against the Winnipeg Jets with an upper-body injury after getting hit in the head from Jets forward Brandon Tanev in the first period. He did not return and will be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Kuznetsov, 26, leads the Capitals with six power-play goals and 21 points this season.

Before going off, Kuznetsov had 4:10 worth of ice time and one shot on goal in the game.

Center Lars Eller took Kuznetsov’s spot on the top-line between Tom Wilson and Alex Ovechkin the rest of the night.

The Capitals’ next game is on Friday night at the Colorado Avalanche from Pepsi Center in Denver.

Kuznetsov missed three games last season with an upper-body injury.
