That’s right, ladies and gentlemen. On Friday, November 9th, as they face-off against their division rivals, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Caps will hose their annual Caps Fight Cancer night.

The Washington Capitals are teaming up this month with the rest of the National Hockey League and the company Ledios to raise awareness within the hockey community about the horrible disease that has claimed so many lives. The night will feature many activities to help support a cure for cancer, all the while sending the Blue Jackets home with a tic in the “Loss” column.

For starters, Linda Laughlin, wife of Craig Laughlin of NBS Sports Washington, will participate in a ceremonial puck drop before the start of the game. Linda is currently being treated for uterine serous carcinoma, which is a form of endometrial cancer.

In addition, players will wear lavender jerseys and helmets during the warm ups, which will feature the “Hockey Fights Cancer” logo on them. On-ice projections will also be done in lavender through the night. Players sticks will also be taped with lavender tape in honor of the event.

During scheduled intermissions, fans will be asked to hold up “I Fight For” signs to be featured on social media. Fans can also include their signs and other methods of support on their personal social media accounts by using the hashtag “#CapsFightCancer”. Fans can download a blank copy of these signs by clicking here.

The Monumental Sports & Entertainment Foundation will also be holding an auction the night of the event. All proceeds earned will be donated to Flashes of Hope, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Make-A-Wish Foundation Mid-Atlantic and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Some of the items up for grabs included the lavender jerseys worn during warm ups, signed, as well as signed sticks clad in lavender tape, and limited edition “Hockey Fights Cancer” hockey pucks.

Bidding has already begun on these exciting collectibles, and if you’d like to win yourself a piece of Washington Capitals history, you can download the Handbid app on your Apple or Android devices, or by clicking here.
