The forward was placed on waivers last season and was claimed by the Edmonton Oilers on December 1. The Oilers later placed him on waivers and the Capitals claimed him. The Oilers were not the only team to submit a waiver claim for the forward.
With Walker on waivers, that almost certainly means that center Travis Boyd will be ready to return after missing 14 games with a lower-body injury dating back to the preseason.
Walker has played three games with the Capitals this season, recording one assist. He tallied his first NHL goal in his first career game on October 7, 2017 in a 6-1 win against the Montreal Canadiens. He appeared in one playoff game with the Capitals last season, recording an assist.
Walker posted nine goals, 22 points, and a -8 rating in 40 games with the Bears last season. In his AHL career, he has tallied 43 goals, 91 points, and +22 rating in 243 games.
Walker was selected by the Capitals with their third-round pick in 2014 and became the first Australian born player drafted into the NHL.

Watch me wallaby’s feed, Mate! Watch me wallaby’s feed! They’re a dangerous breed, Mate! So watch me wallaby’s feed … I hope Nathan Walker finds his niche in the NHL. But the general talent level in pro hockey is sky-high. Hard to crack a roster in any pro league
