Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie and six other former University of North Dakota players were unable to attend Saturday’s game against Minnesota in Las Vegas, Nevada, but they wanted to make the experience better for those who could attend.
Oshie, 31, and former teammates and friends, like Brad Miller, Evan Trupp, Ryan Duncan, Corban Knight, Brad Malone and Joe Gleason, contacted officials at Orleans Arena and bought hundreds of beers that were passed out for free to fans attending the pregame party outside of the arena.
Oshie and his former teammates sent some kind words to those who attended the game, saying “Seeing the support for UND hockey coming from 44 states and around the world, we wanted to do something small for the fans that made our days playing for the Sioux so memorable since we couldn’t be there in person. Our only regret is that we couldn’t send more. Have fun. Cheer loud. Stay safe. Be respectful. GO SIOUX!”

Brad Schlossman reports “It took only minutes for fans to drink the hundreds of free beers that T.J. Oshie and six other former players bought for the fans. They put the free beers on a push cart and hauled them around the open area until they were gone.”
