The Capitals held their yearly Halloween Party yesterday evening at the Mari Vanna in Washington, D.C. The players in attendance dressed up, ate, drank, and some of them even sang! The Capitals will be on the road in Montreal looking to best the Canadiens on November 1, so it’s unlikely that they will have much time to party Halloween night. But if there’s one thing this past offseason has taught fans about the defending Stanley Cup champions, it’s that there is never a wrong time to party. Which means the team will make the best of the time they have between games to celebrate Halloween. And without further ado, NoVa Caps takes a look at some of this year’s costumes!
First up, is John and Gina Carlson! The Caps’ best blueliner and his wife wore matching pirate costumes to the restaurant on Connecticut Ave. Despite winning the most coveted “booty” back in June, John and his first mate here look like they’re ready to have a swashbuckling good time!

Next up is fellow defenseman Dmitry Orlov and his wife Varvara, who donned Alice and Wonderland costumes (Dmitry as the Rabbit and Varvara as Alice).
Forward Andre Burakovsky, defenseman Christian Djoos, and Capitals Assistant Head Trainer Mike Harrington all donned outfits to resemble gangsters from Peak Blinders, a historical drama in the United Kingdom.
Chandler Stephenson and his girlfriend Tasha Maltman may be a little ahead in terms of the holiday their costumes represent, but it was still solid gold, as Stephenson dressed as The Grinch, while Tasha donned a Cindy Lou Who costume to match!
Next up is T.J. and Lauren Oshie and Brett and Katrina Connolly sporting a lovely throwback to the 1990’s, which was a simpler, more colorful time to some. Brett donned a shirt clad in the color scheme of those old disposable cups you’d find in just about every office while T.J. and Lauren wore an ensemble from the then-crazy popular Guest clothing line. Note if you will, No. 10’s corded phone, No. 77’s Pokemon cards, and Katrina Connolly’s Furbies (which some may claim are possessed).
Dmitrij Jaskin, Jakub Vrana, and Michal Kempny were not only members of the Capitals last night, but also your Average Joes, representing the classic film, Dodgeball, with their costumes.
You may have heard of Willy Wonka, but never Willy Walker. The Capitals’ fesity forward and his wife Tayla both dressed as Oopma Loompas for the event. There was definitely a movies theme going on last night, and fans absolutely loved it!
Or, perhaps the costume was a subtle nod to the Capitals’ AHL affiliate team, the Hershey Bears?
And finally, surprising nobody, captain Alex Ovechkin and his wife, Nastya, dressed as a couple of firefighters. Why does this come as no surprise? Simple, dear readers: because Alex Ovechkin is always on fire.
There were also reports that Braden Holtby was dressed as Buddy the Elf, from the Christmas classic, ELF.
Which costume from yesterday’s festivities was your favorite?

Don’t forget Tom Wilson. He Instagrammed the picture of himself and Taylor dressed up as characters from The Sandlot. (Wilson’s girlfriend Instagrammed the same picture.)
I believe Copley was the Elf, Braden and Brandy were Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga
