Brian Sutherby’s Day With the Stanley Cup in Edmonton, Alberta

Friday, October 26 was Brian Sutherby’s day with the Stanley Cup in Edmonton, Alberta.  Brian played with the Washington Capitals from 2002 through 2008 before he got traded away.  After concluding his professional career in 2013, he took a position as a scout with the Washington Capitals and, thus, got to enjoy a day with the Stanley Cup.  (Reminder, you can find links to each and every “day with the Stanley Cup” that have already occurred right here.)

Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association (WELCA)

In the morning, he stopped at the Whitemud Equine Learning Centre Association where he gave a private showing of the Stanley Cup.  Nancy QuinBen, who was there, has known Brian since junior high school.  Both have someone “special” who is involved with the program.

There was then a visit to the Premier Strength Performance Center, as documented by Barry Butt on Instagram.

Final Party at End of Day

The day concluded, as is so typical of Stanley Cup celebrations, with a party at the end of the day.  In attendance were Kent Tilley who posted pictures below.

1 Response to Brian Sutherby’s Day With the Stanley Cup in Edmonton, Alberta

  1. redLitYogi says:

great story. If I were to start a hockey franchise, of course you want to have a top shelf GM. But as important are your scouts. They are probably the most under-rated people in any of the pro leagues. My question then is about Sutherby: what does he do? Is he someone who scouts juniors? Does he scout other teams to help the caps prepare for games? Does he scout other teams’ prospects and players?
