Vancouver Canucks center Jay Beagle received his Stanley Cup ring on Monday morning when the Washington Capitals skated at Rogers Arena in preparations for their game against the Canucks tonight at 10 PM eastern. 

The 33-year old center was unable to attend the Capitals’ Stanley Cup Ring ceremony on October 2 as the Canucks were in Calgary a day prior to their season opener.

This comes two days after his wife gave birth to their third child, Millie.

Beagle was the third-longest tenured player on the Capitals’ Stanley Cup winning team from last season behind only captain Alex Ovechkin and alternate captain Nicklas Backstrom.

The Calgary native posted seven goals and 22 points in 79 regular season games in addition to his two goals and eight points in the playoffs last season for the Capitals. Signed as an undrafted free agent, Beagle tallied 51 goals and 116 points in 471 games and eight goals and 19 points in 85 playoff games in his Capital career. He was a reliable penalty killer and faceoff specialist, who got trusted to take draws in crucial moments. Beagle won 56.1% of the faceoffs he took over his tenure as a Capital.

The center is currently recovering from a fractured forearm that will keep him out 4-6 weeks. Beagle posted one assist in five games for the Canucks prior to his injury.

Beagle was a fan favorite in Washington known for his positivity with the fan base and his strong work ethic. He was very reliable defensively as the team put Beagle out on the ice for a big draw late in the game and on the penalty kill. It is likely that Beagle’s return to Washington will be an emotional one when the Canucks visit the Capitals on February 5.
