At the Board of Governors meeting last week, the NHL provided 2019–20 cap estimates ranging from $81.4 million (no NHLPA inflator) to $85.4 million (the full five per cent). (The players committed to 1.25 for 2018–19.). The current NHL salary cap is $79.5 million.
Washington Capitals general manager Brian MacLellan will be busy this season, evaluating players and contracts for 24 players currently in the Capitals system, that currently have contracts set to expire at the end of the season. 11 roster players and 13 prospects will need new deals.
Decisions for Roster Players:
Andre Burakovsky (RFA), Brett Connolly (UFA), Dmitrij Jaskin (RFA), Devante Smith-Pelly (UFA), Jakub Vrana (RFA), Nic Dowd (UFA), Chandler Stephenson (RFA), Nathan Walker (RFA), Brooks Orpik (UFA), Christian Djoos (RFA) and Pheonix Copley all have deals that will expire at the end of this season.
Decisions for Prospect Players
Mathias Bau (RFA), Sergei Shumakov (RFA), Shane Gersich (RFA), Mason Mitchell (RFA), Hampus Gustafsson (RFA), Brian Pinho (RFA), Jayson Megna (UFA), Michael Sgarbossa (RFA), Liam O’Brien (RFA), Riley Barber (RFA), Colby Williams (RFA), Aaron Ness (UFA) and Vitek Vanecek (RFA) all have deals that expedite at the end of this season.

85mil would be nice, increase of whatever 6mil… as of right now bye Burakovsky save 3mil there, probably bye to Conno too save 1.5mil there I believe.
Give Vrana an extension 3 yrs 2-3mil, and extend Stephenson 2-3 yrs 2mil pr, bring up Gersich&shumakov to fill the holes of course re sign them.
Most importantly gotta keep $$$ open to extend Backy next year, another 4-5yrs. And Holtby&OV right after
Yep, the big names (Backstrom and Ovechkin) are coming very soon. Need to be ready, regardless of the near term plan.
I have to believe that Burakovsky, Orpick and DSP are not going anywhere.
I would say Brooks is gone。。。
I am thinking Nisky could be traded but most are focused on Burky。。。 Im watching Hershey for development
