The Capitals-Knights Stanley Cup Final rematch lifted NHL ratings double-digits on NBCSN. Up double digits from last year’s Capitals-Penguins game.
According to Sports Media Watch, Wednesday’s Golden Knights-Capitals NHL regular season game, a rematch of last season’s Stanley Cup Final, had a 0.32 rating and 543,000 viewers on NBCSN — up 10% in ratings and 21% in viewership from Penguins-Capitals last year (0.29, 448K).
Is a Stanley Cup rematch more appealing than a Caps-Pens game? Probably to many hockey fans, this is the case. There have been quite a few Caps-Pens games over the years, and Caps-Knights is still fresh in the collective hockey conscious.
That, or people are just losing interest in the Penguins.
