Hershey Bears Drop Home Opener 3-2 to Syracuse Crunch (Photos)

I know it isn’t a win, but off of first impressions of this young team, you could say, well, I’m impressed. You gotta hand it to these young guns coming in and playing hard. Sure, the Bears didn’t get the win tonight, but they played well and kept pace with the Crunch. Sometimes we forget how old these players are. It should be exciting to watch.

O’Brien and Sgarbossa got the tallies for the Bears tonight. Samsonov looked great and had some pretty big saves. He stopped 28 of 31 on the evening. I know Caps’ fans will be keeping an eye on this one this year.

If you want to read more on tonight’s matchup, check out our game recap. Oh! If you missed the photos of the Bears walking the red carpet early – you’re gonna want to check those out, too.

And to see photos from the game, keep on scrolling. 🙂

This one turned out kinda snazzy (Yes, I said snazzy.)

Barber with the A at home.

Same for OB.

I love how you could hear the crowd murmuring about Axel’s hair when he came out.

When O’Brien gets all the applause from the crowd.

Find someone who looks at you like Williams looks at Ness.

Samsonov with the game face.

The bench celebrates O’Brien’s goal.

This Crunch goal would tie the game at 1-1.

Here’s just a few of Samsonov.

This kid’s flow. 110/10

Beck Malenstyn carries the puck up ice.

Sgarbossa tallies the Bears’ second goal of the evening.

Ughh I don’t think so.

Are you talking to me?

Nope – that wasn’t a goal.

The art of the redirection – no one said it was beautiful.

Yup, this about sums it up.

I just purchased the full season package of the newly minted AHLTV just so I can keep up with the next batch of future CAPS
I know the AHLTV app is brand new but there is a lot of room for improvement.
As far as I can tell the Bears announcer is familiar with the team and it’s history and calls a very solid game.
Things I’m going to be keeping my eyes on in Hershey is how Shumakov and Samsonov adapt to the size of the North American rink.
From what I can tell last night Samsonov seems to keep his cool even with a lot of traffic in front of the net.
Shumakov I didn’t really see that much of him last night.
Liam O’Brien wasn’t afraid to drop the gloves last night.
Shane Gersich didn’t score but he was all over the ice.
    Sgarbossa had a solid game.
Tonight is Stanley Cup Night @ Giant Arena.
If you want to watch the game I know the AHL is offering a free trial for a few days.
    LETS GO CAPS
    LETS GO BEARS

PS, will you continue coverage of Bears hockey here on novacapsfans all season?

I’m glad you’re following the players in Hershey! I’m a huge fan of the AHL. It’s always been super fun to watch players grow and move on to the NHL. And yes – We’ll be covering the Bears all season right here, so keep checking back in.
