The Washington Capitals entered their home opener against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday in style, walking the annual “Rock The Red Carpet” event, where fans get a chance to get photos and autographs with the players outside of Capital One Arena, prior to the game. The game can be seen on NBC Sports Network starting at 7:00 PM with puck drop around 7:30 PM.
A big crowd was on hand to greet the team despite the fact that previous red carpet events were on weekends. Capital One Arena announcer Wes Johnson warmed up the enthusiastic crowd with chants of “Let’s Go Caps!” and “Back to Back!”
All the Caps on the Opening Night roster were in attendance with the exception of Travis Boyd (week-to-week with a lower-body injury) and Tom Wilson, who was suspended for the first 20 games of the season shortly before the Red Carpet event began.
