The Washington Capitals finally released their third jersey for the upcoming season on Monday morning. It looks exactly like the one they wore from 2015-17.

This was the Capitals’ original jersey from 1974-1995. The team will wear it for 12 games this upcoming season. They will debut it on November 11, when the team hosts the Arizona Coyotes.

You can buy these sweet new threads at the MedStar Capitals Iceplex and Capital One Arena team stores.

From Capitals’ Release

The Washington Capitals will wear their third jersey, modeled after the team’s original red jersey for 12 home dates during the 2018-19 season, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

The primary color for the uniform is red and closely resembles the team’s jersey worn from 1974-75 through 1994-95. The original Capitals wordmark is featured on the front of the jersey with six stars above it and five stars beneath the numbers on each sleeve. The Capitals will wear blue pants and red helmets with their third jerseys.

The Capitals’ third jerseys are available at the Capital One Arena and MedStar Capitals Iceplex team stores.

  1. Jon Sorensen says:

Thoughts: 1) they maybe didn’t have time this summer with Cup celebrations for a new design? 2) they passed on an opportunity for a cash grab (new design) which is surprising. But, that saves fans money who already have one. Thoughts?

  2. Harrison Brown says:

Pretty much what I expected. STL and PHI made their thirds the same from 2016-17. I like the design tho.

Hoping to see something bold and new like the Stadium Series design from last year.
