Washington Capitals Make Second Round Of Roster Cuts on Saturday

The Washington Capitals announced their second round of roster cuts from their 2018 training camp on Saturday.

Saturdays cuts (nine players) are in advance of the Hershey Bears’ start of training camp, which begins on Monday. The Bears training camp schedule is here.

Mathias Bau, Grant Besse, Hampus Gustafsson, Beck Malenstyn, Mason Mitchell, Brian Pinho, Kris Bindulis and Tobias Geisser were all released to the Bears. The moves will allow the players to relocate to Hershey in time for the start of Bears camp.

The Capitals also released Mark Simpson from his tryout.

The Capitals roster is now down to 43 players: 24 forwards, 13 defensemen and six goaltenders.

The Capitals had the day off on Saturday, and will return to training camp workouts beginning Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at MedStar Capitals Iceplex. (Full Schedule is here).

The Capitals next preseason game is Tuesday when they visit the Blues in St. Louis.
