The Washington Capitals announced their first round of roster cuts on Wednesday afternoon.
There were no real surprises in today’s announced cuts:
The following players were returned to their respective junior teams: ALEXEYEV, FLORCHUK, CLARK, SUTTER, KANNOK-LEIPERT & MARTHINSEN. FEHERVARY has been loaned to HV71 (Sweden). Capitals also release THOMPSON from tryout agreement. Updated roster here: https://t.co/UhHCRjbrfV

Forwards Eric Florchuk (Saskatoon Blades), Kody Clark (Ottawa 67’s), Riley Sutter (Everett Silvertips), Alex Kannok-Leipert (Vancouver Giants) and Kristian Roykas-Marthinsen (Saskatoon Blades) were returned to their junior teams. Defenseman Alexander Alexeyev will rejoin Red Deer in the WHL and Martin Fehervary will rejoin his team in Sweden.

No real surprises. Disappointed we can’t see another game out of Alexeyev, just for the enjoyment, but at 18, this move was already known.
I hope we get a look at Shumakov tonight against the Habs.
