Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin Christens New Ice Rinks in Northern Virginia

@TheStJames

Saturday was the much anticipated grand opening of the St. James Fitness and Wellness Center, a 450,000 square-foot mega-sports facility located near the 95/395/495 interchange in Springfield, Virginia.

Plenty of big names, including Redskins Hall-of-famer Darrell Green and the Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin, were on hand for the opening ceremonies.

Stanley Cup Champion Alex Ovechkin christened the facilitie’s two new NHL regulation-sized rinks. Ovechkin made his way to the St. James following his morning training camp session with the Capitals. (More on day 2 of Capitals training camp here.)

Ovechkin took time for a twirl with the youngsters as well.

As previously mentioned, the new 450,000 square foot facility includes two NHL regulation-sized rinks.
