Oshie talked about avoiding the dreaded Stanley Cup hangover, which is one of few concerns for the Caps in 2018-19 after retaining most of the team that won the franchise its first Stanley Cup.
T.J. Oshie: “The hangover means we’ve still got a little bit of that great play left in our system. We can kind of keep the momentum from that.”

More Oshie: “I don’t think we’re going to need to refocus as much as maybe people would assume. And maybe we will. I could be wrong. But for me personally, I’m ready to roll.”

Kuznetsov discussed NBA player Jalen Ramsey’s comments that he can make the NHL in six months if he practiced even though he can’t skate yet.
.@emilymkaplan (love her!) asked NHL players about Jalen Ramsey’s comments that he could “probably crack” an NHL roster in six months, even though he doesn’t know how to skate. Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nathan MacKinnon had good takes. https://t.co/egWkjycONV pic.twitter.com/WLn8TLZG7c

While a lot of NHL players have considered the Toronto Maple Leafs as the Stanley Cup favorites for the upcoming season with the addition of center John Tavares on July 1, The 26-year old Russian center stuck with his team as his favorite to win it all again. He also noted that the team has had enough partying and are now focused on defending the title.
Evgeny Kuznetsov, asked if the party is over for the Capitals: “Yeah. For sure. It’s too much.” He laughed. Asked for his Cup favorite other than his team, he said: “I think we’re going to win.” He refused to name anyone else.

Speaking of partying, Kuznetsov talked about the team’s Stanley Cup celebration after last season and the fact that he was so surprised that it was so public.
I asked Evgeny Kuznetsov to reflect on the Capitals’ citywide title bender (and his very memorable parade speech). “I feel little bad for our wives. They was home, waiting for us, but we still celebrating together, you know?” pic.twitter.com/kPJs3yFzmw
