According to a recent article with aftonbladet.se, Capitals’ prospect Axel Jonsson-Fjallby is set to arrive at Medstar Capitals Iceplex next Tuesday (September 4th) in advance of the start of next weekend’s prospect tournament in Estero, Florida. (September 8-11). In a final interview before departing for DC, Jonsson-Fjallby spoke with hockeynews.se about his goals and a potential backup plan if he doesn’t make the Capitals roster.
The following video interview was translated to English, with a transcript provided following the video:
Translation:
Axel: I´m not going to lie, I´m a little bit nervous. It’s a completely new adventure. I have never gone there with the intention to stay the season.
Reporter: When you´re getting there, of course the goal is the NHL and Washington, however, what do you think about the alternatives if you´re not making the roster?
Axel: I have full attention to get a spot, however, of course I need to have a back-up plan. Either their AHL team or if I feel like going back to Sweden and spend one more year here.
This is not the first time Jonnson-Fjallby has mentioned possibly returning to Sweden for one more season. In an interview with aftonbladet last week, he made mention of possibly playing for Djurgården (Swedish Hockey League), if he did indeed return to Sweden for the coming season.
