After an emotional day with Chandler Stephenson in Humboldt, Saskatchewan on Friday, the Stanley Cup headed south of the border to Arizona for the weekend. First stop was an evening with the Capitals’ Vice President of Communications, Sergey Kocharov, on Saturday night. You may recall that Kocharov worked for the Arizona Coyotes prior to joining the Capitals. (Reminder, you can find the latest schedule of dates for Capitals players “day with the Stanley Cup” right here. You can find links to each and every “Day with the Stanley Cup” that have already occurred right here.)
The Phoenician Resort, Scottsdale, Arizona
The first stop for the Stanley Cup in Arizona was a visit with HopeKids at the Phoenician Resort in Scottsdale. HopeKids provides ongoing events, activities and a powerful, unique support community for families who have a child with cancer or some other lifethreatening medical condition.
Kucharov and HopeKids invited children and families from the Scottsdale area for a visit and few photos with the Stanley Cup.
While at the Phoenician, Kucharov made the Stanley Cup available for photos to other resort patrons and fans as well.
Below are possibly two of our favorite photos from all summer. Sergey, with both of his grandmothers and Lord Stanley. It doesn’t get any better than this.
The Stanley Cup rounded out its weekend in Arizona by spending Sunday with former Capitals assistant coach Lane Lambert, who would also mark the occasion by getting married. You can read all about his day with the Cup right here.
