Three of the Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals we’re back on the ice Friday night for a charity game at NickBack Arena in Valbo, Sweden. The event was Peter Forsberg’s annual “Icebreakers” game.

This year’s game pitted the home team Valbo HC and the star team in Icebreakers, which included Capitals Nicklas Backstrom, Andre Burakovsky and Christian Djoos.

In addition to the Capitals, the Icebreakers team included other NHL stars from around the league:

Goalkeepers: Linus Ullmark, Buffalo and Anton Forsberg, Chicago.

Backar: Mattias Ekholm, Nashville, Tobias Enström, Clubblos, Christian Djoos, Washington, Ludvig Byström, Florida.

Forwards: Nicklas Bäckström, Washington, Peter Forsberg, Jonathan Dahlén, Vancouver, Emil Pettersson, Nashville, Adrian Kempe, Los Angeles, Elias Lindholm, Calgary, André Burakovsky, Washington, Anton Rödin, Anaheim, Elias Pettersson, Vancouver.

Nicklas Backstrom being introduced at his arena:

The Capitals’ Andre Burakovsky and Nicklas Backstrom did hookup for a tally in the game.

NickBack arena was also the site of Nicklas Backstrom’s “day with the Stanley Cup” event held last week. Valbo HC plays all of their home games at NickBack Arena, which is named after Backstrom, who assumed arena sponsorship on August 28th, 2011. NickBack Arena is the site of the annual Nicklas Backstrom Cup, held each summer for under 16 hockey players in the Gavle area.

As for game action, the highlight was Andre Burakovsky’s half-attempt at checking Capitals’ teammate Nicklas Backstrom.
