In what has become somewhat of an summertime tradition, the Capitals’ Nicklas Backstrom and Christian Djoos participated in annual Brynas IF Black-White tune-up game Thursday evening at the Gavlerinken Arena, just north of Backstrom and Djoos’ hometown of Gavle, Sweden.

Prior to the game, both Nicklas Backstrom and Christian Djoos took time to meet a few fans and sign autographs for the hometown folks. Both Backstrom and Djoos played for Brynas in their younger days.

Other NHL notables particpating in the annual Black-White game included Elias Lindholm, Oskar Lindblom and Jakob Silfverberg. The complete roster for the game:

As for the all-important game recap…neither Backstrom nor Djoos were injured. 🙌 The White team would prevail with a 9-6 win. The first period ended 2-1 to the white team. However, shortly after the period, each team had three penalty shots. As a result, the first period ended in a 3-3 tie.  The White team would double up the Black team in the second period for the 9-6 win. The Brynas game summary can be found right here.
