After completing the first day of it’s Nordic leg of the summer tour with Lars Eller in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Wednesday, the Stanley Cup hopped the bay to Malmo, Sweden, on Thursday for a day with Andre Burakovsky. (Reminder, you can find the latest schedule of dates for Capitals players “day with the Stanley Cup” right here.)
The Arrival
Andre’s day started with the Cup being delivered to his family home in Malmo. This was the first time ever that the Stanley Cup made a visit to Malmo. I don’t think any Caps fan will ever grow tired of seeing the ear-to-ear grins on players faces when they grab the Cup on their own for the very first time. As the Cup caretaker says, “well my friend, it’s your day”.

Public Event, Linhamn’s IP
Andre held a public event at Limhamn’s IP from 10am to 1pm. The location was on the lawn outside his family’s club, where 300-400 people gathered for the occasion.
“This is very big, it’s great for the whole of Malmöhockeyn. André started playing in Limhamn, but this is for Malmö, said Johan, chairman of Limhamn hockey. “I was personally glued to the television during the Stanley Cup finals.
“I hope this can inspire young people who are into hockey. That if you can see it correctly, you can also get some extra inspiration,” said Burakovsky to Sydsvenskan.

In an interview with NHL.com, Burakovsky said “It’s been awesome. It was a lot of fun seeing so many people here. It’s been a really warm day but fun. It’s not something you do every day.”
“I was a bit nervous before I got it this morning, but once I finally did it’s been great,” said Burakovsky, who had six points (two goals, four assists) in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games. “It’s been a good day, but I was nervous before for sure.”
“It’s huge that he gets to bring the Cup here, bring it home and show all the kids that dreams do come true,” Andre’s father, Robert said. “But there is a lot of practice and hard work behind this. I admire Andre for all the work he has put in to this.”

Skating Rink
Next up on the Agenda for Andre and the Stanley Cup was a visit to the local skating rink where it all started for him. “I started skating here when I was 6”, Andre told the media. Burakovsky signed a poster of him in a Team Sweden sweater and his birthday.
Local Audi Dealer, Malmo, Sweden
Andre and Stanley also made a quick stop at a local Audi dealer (Audi Malmo/Audi Helsingborg). The dealer recently supplied Andre with his latest wheels (which he shared on social media.

Andre personally drove the Stanley Cup in the aforementioned brand new set of wheels to a private party.

Capitals’ Jakub Vrana also made the private party at the end of the day. As you may recall, Andre flew into Prague for Jakub’s day with the Stanley Cup several weeks ago. (See Vrana’s day below).
The Stanley Cup has the day off on Friday as it heads to Gavle, Sweden for a weekend with Christian Djoos and Nicklas Backstrom.
