The Stanley Cup made its way back to Europe on Tuesday. Capitals’ Center Lars Eller, who had the Cup-winning goal for the Capitals, brought the Cup to his hometown of Rodovere, Denmark on Wednesday, marking the first time in history the Stanley Cup has made an appearance in Denmark. (Reminder, you can find the latest schedule of dates for Capitals players “day with the Stanley Cup” right here.)

The Stanley Cup arrived in Eller’s home town of Rodovere at around 8:15 AM their time. After Receiving the coveted chalice, he and his family ate Koldskål, a chilled Danish buttermilk soup served in the summertime, out of it. Biscuits, called kammerjunkers were also eaten from the Cup.

He then did an overhead press using the Cup.

Family Time

Eller spent some time with family and friends once he got the Cup, and played a game of Kubb with them. The Cup was in the middle.

Stage Appearance

Eller, his daughter and the Stanley Cup rode in a 1969 Buick Wildcat to a public event whelp in his honor. Hundreds of people crowded around the car to take pictures, touch the Cup, and ask Eller for autographs.

Rodovere mayor Erik Nielsen and Denmark ambassador Carla Sands invited Eller and the Cup to a stage event, where thousands of people showed up to see Eller with the Cup.

Hometown Rink

With people still crowding him and the car, Eller then took the Stanley Cup to his hometown rink with thousands coming to see it. Eller made his grand entrance to the rink with “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons playing in the background.

A Visit to Elementary School

Eller continued the day with a visit to his elementary school and later made an appearance at a talk show at Denmark’s national television station.

Linemate Andre Burakovsky joined Eller at the party. Burakovsky will have his day with the Stanley Cup tomorrow in Malmo, Sweden, which is across the Oresund Bay from Copenhagen, Denamark.

The Stanley Cup is now off to Sweden for Burakovsky, Christian Djoos, and Nicklas Backstrom’s days with the Cup. The full list of players’ days with the Cup is here.
