The Stanley Cup will make appearances to the Hershey Bears‘ game on Sunday, October 7 against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the New York Islanders’ AHL affiliate, and the South Carolina Stingrays’ home opener on Saturday, October 20 against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

Both teams will hold events for season ticket holders.

The Conn Smythe Trophy (playoff MVP), Prince of Wales Trophy (Eastern Conference Championship), and Maurice Rocket Richard (NHL goal-scoring championship) Trophy won by Washington Capitals’ captain Alex Ovechkin, who led the NHL with 49 goals in 2017-18, will also make appearances in Hershey and South Carolina along with the Stanley Cup.

Bears’ Release:

The Stanley Cup® is coming to Hershey. The Hershey Bears announced today that the Stanley Cup, one of the oldest and most revered trophies in professional sports, will visit Hershey on Sunday, Oct. 7. That evening, the Bears will host the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at 5 p.m. at the Giant Center, and fans will have the opportunity to have their picture taken with the Stanley Cup during the course of the evening.

“It’s a thrill to work with the Hockey Hall of Fame and the NHL to bring the Stanley Cup to our loyal fans in Hershey,” said Hershey’s vice president of hockey operations Bryan Helmer. “With 14 former Bears on the roster of the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals, Hershey played a large part in our affiliate’s victory, so it’s only appropriate the Stanley Cup spends time in Chocolatetown, U.S.A. As we get closer to the date, we look forward to sharing further details with our fans on what promises to be a special night.”

Hershey Bears Season Ticket Holders will be able to take part in an exclusive session with the Stanley Cup® prior to the doors opening for Hershey’s game on Oct. 7. Further details, and a complete schedule of events will be distributed in the coming months.

In addition to the Stanley Cup®, the Conn Smythe Trophy, Rocket Richard Trophy, and Prince of Wales Trophy will also appear in Hershey on Oct. 7. The Conn Smythe Trophy, awarded to the playoff MVP, and Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy, given to the NHL’s regular season top goal scorer, were both won by Washington captain Alex Ovechkin. The Capitals also claimed the Prince of Wales Trophy as Eastern Conference Champions on the way to their first Stanley Cup title.

Season ticket packages for Hershey’s 2018-19 season are on sale now, featuring discounted costs and extra added benefits. Full Season, 22-game, 12-game, and Flex-10 plans are available with packages starting at just $195. The puck drops with the home opener on Saturday, Oct. 6 vs. the Syracuse Crunch. For more information on ticket plans or Hershey’s schedule, call 717-520-5796 or visit HersheyBears.com.

Stingrays’ Release:

The South Carolina Stingrays have announced that one of the most iconic trophies in sports, the Stanley Cup®, will appear at the team’s opening night game to begin the 2018-19 season on Saturday, October 20. The team plans to celebrate the first championship in franchise history for their National Hockey League (NHL®) affiliate Washington Capitals during the game with special events and opportunities to take a photo with the famous trophy.

The Stingrays will also host three additional trophies won by Washington this spring during the special game including the Conn Smythe Trophy, Rocket Richard Trophy and Prince of Wales Trophy. Capitals’ captain Alex Ovechkin claimed both the Conn Smythe as the Most Valuable Player during the NHL’s postseason and the Rocket Richard as the player who scored the most goals during the regular season, while the Prince of Wales was secured after Washington defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Eastern Conference Final.

The Capitals claimed the organization’s first-ever Stanley Cup® Championship on June 8 with a defeat of the Vegas Golden Knights at T Mobile Arena to win the final series in five games. Former Stingrays players Pheonix Copley, Philipp Grubauer, Braden Holtby and Nathan Walker were all members of the championship team.

The oldest trophy in North American professional sports, the Stanley Cup® trophy’s origins date back to 1892 and it has been awarded to the Stanley Cup® Playoffs Champion since 1926. It is unique because it includes the engraved names of players and team personnel of its champions on bands around the base of the trophy. Periodically, bands are retired to make room for new ones. The retired bands are displayed at the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

The group of four Rays alumni joined forward Rich Peverley as the only five former South Carolina players to win the Stanley Cup® Championship. Peverley captured the trophy in 2011 with the Boston Bruins.

More details about the night will be announced soon including where fans can go to take photos with the trophies, a season ticket holder event and more.

  3. I think everything said was actually very logical.
But, consider this, what if you composed a catchier title?
I mean, I don’t want to tell you how to run your
website, but suppose you added a title that grabbed folk’s attention?
I mean Stanley Cup To Make Appearances At Bears and Stingrays Games in October | NoVa Caps is
a little vanilla. You could look at Yahoo’s home page and note how they
create news headlines to grab people to open the links. You might add a video or a pic or two to get people interested about everything’ve written. Just my
opinion, it would bring your blog a little bit more interesting.
