Capitals Head Coach Todd Reirden’s Day with the Stanley Cup

After spending a majority of the week in Minnesota, the Stanley Cup made its way to the great state of Indiana on Thursday to spend the day with Capitals Head coach Todd Reirden. (Reminder, you can find the latest schedule of dates for Capitals players day with the Stanley Cup right here.)

The first public event was held 10 am to noon at the Old Lake County Courthouse in Crown Point, Indiana, (population 27,317), located about a half-hours drive south of Chicago, Illinois.

As was the case earlier in the week in Minnesota, lines were impressive in Indiana, just to get a glimpse and possibly a pic with Lord Stanley.

The Stanley Cup and coach Reirden then visited the Midwest Training and Ice Center in St. John’s, Indiana. Reirden invited a youth hockey team from his hometown of Deerfield, Illinois, to meet him at the facility and take photos with the Stanley Cup.

Reirden met and posed for photos with other youth hockey players as well, including players from the Bishop Nolls Institute.

Next stop for Reirden and the Stanley Cup was the William E. Urschel Pavilion in Valparaiso, Indiana. The Capitals new head coach once again posed for photos with fans.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reirden was asked about bringing the cup “Valpo”. “It was a great place to be, when we lived in Valparaiso,” Reirden said. “I wanted to come back to this area and share this with the people here, who were phenomenal. It’s always been a home away from home for me.”
