The offseason seems a lot shorter when you win the Stanley Cup! Less than three weeks after winning the franchise’s first NHL championship, the Washington Capitals will open their 2018 Development Camp on June 25 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex. The camp will conclude on July 1. In addition to prospect camp, the week will feature the 3rd annual Caps Alumni Summer Classic on June 26.
While roster and schedule information will be released later, the camp could mark the debut of Russian goaltender Ilya Samsonov, who signed a three-year contract with the Capitals earlier this year after wrapping up another season in the KHL. The Development Camp is open to the public.
The alumni game is scheduled for June 26 at 6:30 p.m. at Kettler. The Capitals announced that the following alumni are expected to participate: Peter Bondra, Nelson Burton, Frederic Cassivi, Sylvain Cote, John Druce, Chris Ferraro, Peter Ferraro, Alan Hangsleben, Bryan Helmer, Matt Herr, Brent Johnson, Dmitri Khristich, Olie Kolzig, Mike Knuble, Yvon Labre, Craig Laughlin, Alan May, Kelly Miller, Paul Mulvey, Dave Parro, Pat Peake, Matt Pettinger, Errol Rausse and Ken Sabourin. Kolzig and Labre will serve as team coaches.
