The preseason kicks off with a home-and-home series against the Bruins, starting Saturday, September 16 at 1 PM at TD Garden. The Bruins will follow the Capitals home for a 7:00 tilt the following Monday.
The Capitals went 2-5-0 in the preseason in 2017 but went 9-3-0 against those opponents during the regular season, earning at least two wins against each team. They went 6-0 on the road against their preseason opponents during the 2017-18 regular season. Washington is 163-124-33-14 all-time during the preseason.
The Capitals will go out on a three-game road trip after the home-and-home series with the Bruins and then close out the preseason slate with a short two-game homestand against the Hurricanes and Blues.
The team will begin training camp shortly before the preseason starts. That information will be released later this summer.
The NHL will release home openers for all 31 teams on Wednesday afternoon and the 2018-19 regular season schedule on Thursday at 5 PM. NHL Network will televise a special edition of “NHL Tonight” then to release the full 1,230 regular season schedule.
