There were some special guests in attendance Monday at the Capitals morning skate at Kettler Capitals Iceplex prior to Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Finals. These guests are going to be donning an NHL uniform later this month: the projected top picks of the 2018 NHL entry draft. Among them was projected number one pick Rasmus Dahlin (pictured center with blonde hair). Also, Philipp Grubuaer’s dad unintentionally photobombed this shot.
Dahlin, who hails from Sweden, was probably excited to catch a glimpse of the Swedes among the Capitals roster. He got to meet Nicklas Backstrom after the skate and will be in attendance at Game 4.
Also in attendance were Evan Bouchard, Noah Dobson, Quintin Hughes, Brady Tkachuk, and Filip Zadina.
The draftees recently wrapped up the NHL combine in Buffalo. Dahlin had a good showing in the fitness testing portion of the combine. He went 104.25 inches in the standing board jump and followed that going 16.41 inches in the vertical jump.

He followed that with the pro ability test, the NHL combine’s equivalent of suicides. This drill is a 15-foot sprint one way, a 30 foot sprint in the other direction, then a 15 foot spring to the center.
