While the main action the hockey world is paying attention to for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals is happening on the ice at Capital One Arena, there was a ton of shenanigans going down outside the building. Several streets around the arena closed and thousands of Washington Capitals fans gathered for some pregame fun.

The street closures affected travel not only for the fans but the players as well. Matt Niskanen and T.J. Oshie took the metro to the arena.

Fans were able to shop for Stanley Cup Finals gear at the team store as well as several merchandise trailers at 7th and G and 7th and F street. On F Street NW between 7th and 8th the kiddos were treated to face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon artists and poster making stations.

Capital One Arena is all decked out for the Stanley Cup Finals!

City busses are #ALLCAPS!

Fans were also treated to a free concert with a performance from Sting and Shaggy on the right side of of the National Portrait Gallery.

Fans came prepared with the threat of impending heavy rain and thunderstorms….

On 7th and F street some TV networks had their pregame show live and outside. Here’s NBC’s.

NBC Sports Washington also had a pregame show of their own and Captain Obvious made an appearance!

Additionally those without a ticket are able to watch the game on big screens outside the arena. It will sure be a fun atmosphere outside just as much as it will be inside the building.

Enjoy Game 3 Caps fans!
