Barry Trotz takes the Hot Lap to Kick Off Stanley Cup Finals Practice in Las Vegas

The hot lap has become a tradition during Washington Capitals road morning skates this postseason. Started by Jay Beagle until a loss in Game 4 in the second round, then continued by Alex Ovechkin until a loss in Game 5 of the third round, the torch has since been handed to coach Barry Trotz.

With no morning skates in Las Vegas due to the 5 p.m. local time puck drop, this was the Capitals final time gearing up before Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Trotz once again trucked around the ice for the hot lap not once, but twice!

We’ll have more from practice and media day later so stay tuned to NoVa Caps for all your coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals.
