How the Capitals Could Line Up for Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals

The Washington Capitals held a morning skate Thursday morning at Kettler Capitals Iceplex prior to Game 4 of their Eastern Conference Final series with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Based on the line rushes, here is how the Capitals could line up.

CAPITALS LINES

Forwards
Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Wilson
Vrana-Eller-Oshie
Burakovsky-Stephenson/Backstrom-Connolly
Smith Pelly-Beagle-Chiasson
Defense
Orlov-Niskanen
Kempny-Carlson
Orpik-Djoos
Starter’s net: Braden Holtby

NOTES
When line rushes began, Nicklas Backstrom (upper-body, right hand injury) did not take part in them. However during the second rush, Backstrom was centering the third line alongside Andre Burakovsky and Brett Connolly. No changes to the top-six.

When special teams drills began, Backstrom was back in his familiar spot on the top power play unit.

Barry Trotz said after the skate that Backstrom is a game-time decision and hasn’t been medically cleared by trainers to play yet. Still day-to-day.
